In July 2015, 22 students from HTMS Tin Shui Wai and Tseung Kwan O spent two weeks in one of the oldest universities in the world. Having a chance to stay with the local families and study in one of the most historical buildings in the town, students were at first worried and panic. Without anyone to rely on but themselves, they had no other ways but step out of their comfort zone. They had to find their own ways to school and back home. They had to do their own laundry. They had to learn how to cooperate and live with others.

This is a trip far more than language learning. This is a trip that tells the students that they can be more mature. They are able to solve problems by themselves. I believe that they come home not only with better English competence, but with a better self as well.

Students had a chance to experience most of the historical sights and events in Cambridge, such as visiting King’s College, the King’s Chapel and doing punting. They also had four exciting excursions to cities and towns like London, Stratford upon Avon, Oxford and Brighton.

In short, this trip comes to an end with joy and excitement and it has definitely broadened their horizons. They have met many new friends from all over the world and already said that they would miss the famous fish and chips very much. They came here as Hong Kong students and now go home as global citizens.
